Lemony Bulgur Salad

Our first couch surfing adventure over, we moved on to a hotel in Bariloche for one last night. We sprung for the extra $15 it would cost to get a room with a little kitchenette, figuring we would likely spend that much or more on dinner anyway. There is a two burner hotplate, a microwave and mini fridge, a few pans, a kettle and a cutting board. We had some bulgur wheat we brought from Buenos Aires so we decided to use that and supplement it with a trip to the grocery store across the street from our hotel. Bariloche, Skiing and A Backpackers Picnic

Tangy Marinated Vegetables and How They Became a Sandwich

We are nearing the end of our time in Buenos Aires, which makes me kind of sad, we have seen and done so much cool stuff here, but I am excited for the next leg of our trip, skiing in Bariloche! Because we are leaving soon, we are trying to use up some of the foods we have acquired here. I cooked some garbanzo beans to turn into crispy garbanzo bean snacks and made a double batch of stovetop […] Continue Reading

Individual Granola Cobbler

Microwaves are a tough subject, people feel adamantly one way or the other about them. They love them or they hate them and there is not really a big in between crowd- I admit I was one of those people that turned my nose up at anything made in the microwave (and I will never be ok with bacon made in the microwave. Never). Except for a one week period when one of my cousins and I found an old microwave cookbook and tried to cook […] Continue Reading
